Fabulous Island Retreat with all the Amenities

We recently spent a fabulous week at the Bravos Bungalows in Vieques. Tastefully done, the property offers two bungalows (one of three bedrooms, one of two), each with full kitchen, numerous ensuite bathrooms, and spacious living areas both inside and out. The two bungalows are adjoining but separate, perfect for two distinct groups or one large family gathering and the crowning jewel is the brand new saltwater pool with a stunning waterfall. The large breezeway, screened in sun room, and outdoor dining area are just a few of the extras we loved about staying at the Bungalows. The rooms are contemporary chic, everything you need and more from bottle openers to dishes to pots and pans and laundry room. Our room in the Pool Bungalow was large and well appointed, boasting an outdoor shower. Nothing like staring up at the sun while you get ready for the fun day ahead. Both the newly planted grounds and bungalows are impeccable. The compound is just a short walk from La Chata Beach, a great place to wander in search of sea glass and other treasures. Swimming at Sun Bay, romping in the waves at Navio Beach, Playa Grande, exploring the quaint stores in town and discovering the coolest dive bar (Al’s) to watch the sunset – all of these made our stay at Bravos Bungalows a totally rejuvenating and memorable vacation. We love Vieques and will definitely be back again. Clean, spacious, well appointed and private, The Bravos Bungalows is the island’s best kept secret but not for long because great news travels fast. If you love the beach and true island life, this is the place for you. Cannot wait to go back.

Nov 16, 2014 – A true slice of heaven

From the moment you open the gate of Bravos Bungalows you will be blown away! The gardens are incredibly lush, the pool is stunning and the house has all the items to make it feel cozy as your own. We had a magnificent time in Vieques. Largely because we could just stay at the compound and find ourselves relaxing just the way the doctor had ordered. You can hear the ocean, you’re close to Isabel to shop and you have La Chata Beach a stones throw away to enjoy the beautiful sunsets or morning walk combing the beach for sea glass. I must not forget to mention it was CLEAN!! That is always my worst fear and we felt as though we were the first ones to be so lucky to stay here. We will be going back!

Great week for a group of 9 – 83 years to 8 months old

Stayed at the Bravos Bungalows compound for over two weeks and loved it. Tons of space for solitude as well as public areas for the whole gang. Clean and well equipped.

We were pleased with this place and and all the well thought out amenities, Hdtv, A/C, pool, security, furnishings, gardens, location. We will definitely be back.

Terrific accomodations with plenty of bedrooms for several

We had grandparents and a grandchild who shared the pool bungalow (2 bedrooms) and 3 adult children who shared the garden bungalow (3 bedrooms) so each could have comfort and privacy. I know theoretically the compound sleeps up to 10 but there were day beds in the screened porch off the pool bungalow which could have accommodated even more I think. The homes, grounds and pool were gorgeous and well appointed. The pool is even larger than it seems in the photos. Loved having the laundry room. Kitchens have everything needed to cook in, but remember to get seasoning, salt and pepper as well as your food if planning on eating in. Youll need your own charcoal too. But the grill, lighter fluid and propane lighter are on the premises. La Chata Beach is swimmable and a 2 minute walk from the compound and it is claimed to be the best for finding sea glass. Loved seeing the wild horses outside the compound. And of course there are beaches everywhere in Vieques which you can drive to. You really need to rent a car if staying on the Island. Hardy bikers could certainly make it to the town of Isabel Secunda and actually even hikers who were in shape could make it there. There are many convenience stores and even a larger market in Isabel Secunda, as well as the larger Moralez Market on 200 on the way to the airport. My favorite Market though is the Mambo Market on 997 which is about half way between Isabel II and Esperanza. The lady there is very nice and for a small store it is jam packed with almost anything you could want. And she stays open till 10pm every night and 12 midnight on Friday They even have a selection of wines in a cooled wine room and items such as Perrier Water and and creamer in their refrigerator cases. They have a section with over the counter medications which came in handy when our granddaughter had an allergy attack and we needed some Benadryl. So for a large group of friends or extended family stay at the Bravos Bungalows the Compound for sure.

Incredible Vacation

My husband and I can’t say enough about this rental. From the moment we landed in Vieques we knew we had found a true Carribean gem. Then, we opened the gates of Bravos Bungalows and we knew we had chosen the right place to stay. The house was beautifully decorated, very clean, well equipped and felt just like home. The kitchen was so well equipped we enjoyed dining in most nights so we could enjoy the beautiful outdoor space and swim under the stars. The air conditioner units in the bedrooms are terrific and cooled them in minutes while you brush your teeth! Having la Chata beach a couple doors down made for memorable morning walks with our coffee and the best sunset view with the main island in the distance.

The rental was so comfortable and relaxing that we even spent 3 days there by the pool. Just what the doctor ordered! We will be going back to Vieques again and will stay here again!

We loved the Garden Bunglow!

The Garden Bungalow was even better than the pictures on the site! Loved the concrete floors, counters, sinks. The a/C worked great without any loud noises (important after a long day spent outdoors). The linens on the beds were so luxurious and comfy. The highlight was the salt water pool. Swimming at night was awesome with the noises of the island and the stars shining brighter than I ever see at home. The Garden Bungalow is conveniently located to the town of Isabel Segundo (just a mile). The house comes equipped with everything you could possibly need – blender, coffee maker, pots and pans, charcoal grill, beach chairs, etc. However, I did bring condiments and laundry detergent from home (good idea because there was nothing there like salt, pepper, tea, etc.). Roosters were mentioned in previous reviews – we weren’t bothered by them. This was a great property. We had a fantastic stay!

Amazing secluded vacation, House made the entire stay!

We rented the 6 person side of the Garden Bungalow and loved every minute we spent there. We spent a lot of our time at the house and the house really did make our entire trip amazing. The other side of the house was not rented when we were there, so we got the pool to ourselves! The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The house was very clean and well taken care of. The alarm system added a sense of security that was great as well. I really liked how the bedrooms were air conditioned (so you could sleep), but the main rooms in the house weren’t (so you still felt “tropical” and outside). Must rent! Great house.

I Love The Bravos Boyz

This place was awesome!!! Honestly they do a great job! Was very impressed… If you are going to Vieques you have to call them. Its like having your own mini Ritz Carlton!!! I wish they were in Culebra!

Highly recommended!!

This was my first visit to Vieques and it surpassed all expectations. Two weeks in paradise with 10 family members. The Bravos bungalows proved to be the perfect spot for a memorable vacation. The compound was exactly as promised and I can’t wait to return. Two separate units, both beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything you’ll need. The saltwater pool is fantastic and the grounds are impeccably landscaped. The Bravos Boyz (property management company) are located directly across from the compound. They were very friendly and proved to be a great resource for things to do and see on the Island.

La Chata Beach is Just a few minutes walk from the compound, a great place to enjoy morning coffee and watch the wild horses roam the beach. Only a five minute drive to Isabella Segunda where you can stock up on groceries, stroll through the town center and check out charming local shops.

A fabulous vacation filled with plenty of snorkeling, sailing, beach combing and relaxing. A photographers paradise for sure. I would definitely recommend the Bravos Bungalows, a great place to stay.

Unspoiled Island Living – Bravos Bungalows, Vieques, PR

Just spent a fabulous week at the Bravos Bungalows in Vieques. The two bungalows are adjoining but separate, perfect for two distinct groups or one large family gathering and the crowning jewel is the brand new saltwater pool with a stunning waterfall. Both the newly planted grounds and bungalows are impeccable. The compound is just a short walk from La Chata Beach, a great place to wander in search of sea glass and other treasures. The compound is further enhanced by the fact that the office of the property management company (Bravos Boys) is directly across the street. This offered us complete assurance that if we needed information or were having even the slightest difficulty with anything (we did not), they were just across the street ready to ensure our vacation was the best. Swimming at Sun Bay, romping in the waves at Navio Beach, strolling Playa Grande, exploring the quaint stores in town and discovering the coolest dive bar (Als) to watch the sunset all of these made our stay at Bravos Bungalows a totally rejuvenating and memorable vacation. We love Vieques and will definitely be back again. The Bravos Bungalows is the islands best kept secret but not for long because great news travels fast. An Excellent Vacation!

We highly recommend a vacation to Vieques and a stay at the Pool Bungalow property. By way of background, my family and I have had the good fortune to travel to many islands/beach destinations. Admittedly, we are somewhat fussy so we do quite a bit of research before picking a sun/beach destination and usually stay at luxury resorts, hotels or well-situated vacation rental apartments. By these standards, we had a great time in Vieques at the Pool Bungalow and are so enthusiastic about Vieques and the property that we are already looking to make arrangements for next year.
For those who have never rented a vacation property, we can’t say enough about the advantages of having a “home-away-from home”, particularly if you are a family with young children. Given the size of the island, everything is easily accessible with a short car drive, and there is a beach nearby for leisurely walks. Isabel II, the main town, is less than a 5 minute drive away.
Accommodations at the Pool Bungalow were great. The Pool Bungalow is beautifully decorated, well-maintained, extremely clean, and offers all the conveniences for an enjoyable and comfortable stay (i.e. dishwasher, washer/dryer, air conditioning, large flat-screen TV with satellite access, internet access, full-sized cooler with wheels for beach picnics, full sized beach towels, a BBQ etc.). The property has a beautiful pool with a waterfall, lovely gardens and is encircled by a high wall for privacy. The residence we stayed in also offered an outdoor shower (which we used everyday) and a screened-in lounge near the pool (perfect for an afternoon nap). Finally, the Bravos Boyz property managers are just across the street and were very welcoming and responsive from the moment we arrived at the airport until our departure.
Vieques has many incredibly beautiful beaches, particularly on the southern side. During our week stay, we went to a different beach every day. Each beach was calm, clean and crystal blue. La Chiva was our favourite. Several were particularly perfect for younger children with their families as they were shallow for some distance and offered shaded spots under trees. The snorkeling was great.
In addition to the unspoiled beaches, Vieques is home to much wildlife — we were particularly pleased to see wild horses grazing as we travelled about the island. We also went horseback riding with the local outfit. The local restaurants and bars offer a “laid-back” Caribbean atmosphere and reasonable prices. We particularly enjoyed Tradewinds in Esperanza and watching sunsets at al’s Mar azul bar in Isabel II.
While we had never heard of Vieques until a year ago, it seems to be growing in popularity as a travel destination, and for snowbirds who have decided to live in the Caribbean. After having visited Vieques, it is easy to understand why. We look forward to many return visits to the Pool Bungalow.

Formidable. Wow!

“Island vibe” as they say in america met all expectations and more. Short plane ride from San Juan to Vieques breathtaking…

Simple country living in the Caribbean without the need for an all inclusive formula vacation. The compound was private, expansive and well laid out for a big family getaway.

We rented a vehicle and when not relaxing by the beautiful salt water pool, we drove to many of the world class beaches. Different beaches provided fun in the sun for our large group. Snorkelling, body surfing or just drifting with the current.

The compound was well appointed and access to stores allowed us to experience the local culture. Mingling while grocery shopping or evening dining or watching the sun set at al’s…

We shall return to this paradise…Bon voyage!

wonderful, just what we were looking for

Island is low key, not the place to go to if looking for lots of options for activities (it’s the beach or the beach) several good restaurant.

Our pool bungalow was great, BB staff was very helpful, easy to deal with, very pleasant. The rental was well equipped and very comfortable. Location was good even though not right on the beach. Would rec avoiding the ferry if possible, the only minor downside to our trip. Inefficient -frustrating ticketing process that is very difficult to make sense of (waited 2.5 hrs in line (started 7:15 am on a Saturday) for 930 ferry, ended up on the 1pm ferry! You can fly from San Juan to Vieques -$$$, turns out you can fly from a town-Ceiba- near the ferry to the island for about $60 roundtrip. (warning 25 lb wt limit per person luggage or $1 per lb for extra), would do that next time. Would recommend shuttle by Julian from San Juan to ferry/airport.

Beautiful Property!

Loved staying here with the great location and awesome pool! We had everything we needed when going to spend time at the beach. The walk down to the closest beach was only maybe a block. It was a little rough for swimming when we were there but it was still fun to visit every morning. The neighbors in the area were always very nice and welcoming. The only improvement that we would like to see would be maybe windows that were more soundproof… so many roosters crowing 🙂 Of course a sound machine would probably be a much more affordable upgrade. Dealing with the Bravos Boys Mgmt Company was super easy and we never had any worries or concerns.

Could it get any better than this?  I don’t think so…

What a beautiful place to call our own for 1 week ! Inside and out, the garden bungalow was just what the doctor ordered. Everything has just been newly renovated with considerable thought for the renters right down to providing beach towels.
Upon arriving through the front gate we were greeted with a variety of flowers blooming along the curving path to a sheltered dining area that we made use of most evenings.
The pool was just right for an afternoon swim or an evening dip to gaze at the night sky.
The bedrooms were pristine and comfortable with both aC and a ceiling fan. The kitchen had everything we needed to create our own meals in the evenings or enjoy PR coffee in the morning …the best I have enjoyed in a long, long time.
What was so amazing was the old world feel of Vieques against all the modern amenities we were provided. We spent our week exploring Vieques island beaches, doing a little shopping but our favourite outing was a bio-luminescent tour which we will never forget.
Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us.

Fantastic Holiday

Beautiful landscaped grounds, large pool with falls & night illumination made for a great swim, day or night. The bungalow was nicely decorated, all new furnishing & very clean & cozy. Kitchen fully equipped. Out door shower, love it! Enjoyed sleeping in the screened in porch & waking up to the famous roaster call & the sun beaming down on me.. Daily we’d get a visit by a roaster, hen & her cute little chicks & a beautiful green iguana who hung out in the tree. Finding wild horses standing by the property gate & just strolling down the road was something. Only in Vieques. This is a beautiful and friendly island, a photographers dream & the Bravos pool bungalow is definitely a great place to stay.

Clean With Lots Of Outdoor Space

A group of 4 of us stayed at the Garden Bungalow and enjoyed it very much. Both couples had there own bathroom. The furniture and appliances are brand new and the kitchen was well appointed. There was an ice machine and a blender that we put to good use. The house is recently renovated and freshly painted and very nicely decorated and had little extras like an ipod music player and a safe for valuables. The property managers are right across the street and go out of their way to ensure everything is perfect. One of the highlights of the place is the amount of outdoor living space. The outdoor dining area, front porch with hammock, as well as the poolside Cabana that we dubbed the “man cave” provided lots of outdoor areas for relaxing poolside. The pool with water feature is mesmerizing. We visited many beaches but found the one at the end of the street the best for Sea Glass

“Fantabulous!!”

This was my family’s 5th visit to Vieques. We have always stayed at the same house but, as it was not available this year, tried the Bravos Bungalows – The Compound. We could not have been happier! For a party of 6 adults and 5 kids, there was ample room for all of us, plenty of bathrooms, plenty of towels, and plenty of seating. Both villas are very modern and well appointed with any kitchen appliance you might need. The service we received from Bravos Brothers was prompt, courteous, and professional. The location is great…2 min. walk to a beach full of beautiful shells, coral and sea glass (but not good for swimming) and a 5 min. drive to Isabella Segunda in case you forgot something off your grocery list. The best part about the villas were the cleanliness, amenities, and pool area. If we had to come up with any suggestions, it would be for mosquito repellents to be in every bedroom. It was a perfect stay in a fabulous location…we will be back!!

Beautiful, modern space with private pool and beach”

The bungalows made a perfect homebase for our vacation in Vieques. Lots of space for 12 of us, a beautiful pool, a couple houses from the beach, and easy access to the whole island. We rented both bungalows, which gave each family enough privacy While making dinner barbecues and swimming at night a dream. The house was very nice and perfectly clean. Towels silverware everything was provided. The bravos boys were excellent and very helpful throughout our stay with questions on what to do, where to go and and where to eat.

Perfect Island Getaway

My husband and I stayed in the Garden Cottage during our stay in Vieques; the house and grounds are beautiful!! The pool is incredible and it only gets better being able to hear the ocean while sitting out on the huge wrap-around porch/veranda!! Everything we needed was provided plus many extras!! It was just the 2 of us, but I know we will come back and bring family!! Love being able to walk to a beach!!!

“Stay Here and Enjoy a Great Island”

We loved our week’s stay here. It has a great saltwater pool and a nice waterfall. There are two separate pool decks. It is located in Bravos de Boston and you could hear the surf of the ocean most days as La Chata beach is located at the end of the street. The Bungalows were set up perfectly for our large group and we appreciated the separate kitchen and living areas. All of the appliances and furniture are brand new and the service provided by the Bravos Boyz is top notch. This is an excellent house in what seems to be one of the nicer areas on the island and none of Vieques famous beaches are more than 15 minutes or so, it is a small island after all. I highly recommend this house.

“Tropical Paradise”

Last minute vacation and we sure hit the Jackpot!! There are two units here (one 3 bedroom and one 2 bedroom), we got lucky and got a last minute reservation. The Garden Bungalow is just beautiful, it had everything we needed plus some!! Sitting outside on the porch listening to the ocean (just a short stroll down the road) was just what the Doctor ordered!! The pool is incredible too! From star gazing to grilling fresh seafood…the whole stay was wonderful!! We also love the ease of getting into town in just a few minutes and the 15 minute drive to the Caribbean side of the island, although – the beachcombing and shell searching at the beach down the street with a cup of coffee in hand was the best!! We will definitely be back and highly recommend!
