Too Much Stuff!

We had Home Depot deliver 15 pallets of material to the house yesterday.  The arrival of the large truck appeared to create a level of news worthiness in the neighbourhood. It appears that we have gone from the “I am getting behind because I need the new doors and windows”, to “Yes, the truck just got here and there is too much f$^^%$%^ing stuff here”.    In the land of renovations it appears that there are no happy mediums so we are confident that Costa Rica will work through all the newly  arrived items and make good progress on the second phase of the renovations.

“And The Survey Says” (please read in the voice of the Family Feud’s Richard Dawson) that most people seem to agree with us with regards to what they think is important in a vacation rental.  Here are the results to date of the survey we have posted at the top our blog.  Do you agree?

The Name Game

I thought I would take advantage of the extra hour we gained through the spring forward effect of our time change this morning.  Our time here in Ottawa is Eastern Standard Time and from now through the fall we are on Vieques time.  Being on Vieques time is small consolation for not being on Vieques! After much deliberation we finally have named our new property – The Bravos Bungalows.  So that included reserving BRAVOSBUNGALOWS.COM – “CHECK”  – this was done before the first cup of coffee this morning.  And we have started developing the logo and artwork for the site.  There is still a long way to go but we expect that our two units that will include 5 bedrooms and an in ground pool, will be available for rent for next winter’s rental season.  Fingers c

I NEED TO SING THIS PAPER FOR THE STORE.

I have been trying to order new windows and doors from Home Depot for over two weeks now.  Let me clarify, I have been trying to pay for the windows and doors for over two weeks now.  After connecting with the pro desk and at the Carolina, Puerto Rico Home Depot, I detailed the dimensions and numbers of doors and windows that I needed and e-mailed the request for a quotation to the store.  Things seemed to be running smoothly.  It appeared to be eerily too easy.  The next day I received the quotation via e-mail.  Everything seemed okay until I called them with the intent of paying by credit card.  It turned out they needed me to fill out  a credit card authorization form.  I agreed and asked them to fax it to me.  They said that they would. Two days later I had still not received anything.

We have decided to extend one of the bedrooms in the front unit across the huge breezeway with a small sitting room and an en-suite bathroom. This is what the bedroom originally looked like.  The rear window (the one on the right) is now closed in and the other window has been knocked out with an arched access built for access to the sitting room and bathroom. The Bedroom with the side window removed and prepared for the archway The opening is being finished with an arch Looking towards the sitting room and bathroom from the breezeway
